The castle where all this saponification goes on bears a striking resemblance to Hampton Court, yup, another maze game.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_738\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-738\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher_title.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher_title-300x188.png\" alt=\"Bone Cruncher Title\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-738\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher_title-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher_title.png 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-738\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bone Cruncher Title<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The variations on this tired old theme can be counted on the fingers of a 99 cone; there are various monsters which, when released by Bono digging out the surrounding earth, kill their liberator.<br \/>\nThere are glooks, round hairy pink things with eyes that periodically hurtle around the screen. There&#8217;s the odd spider. Um.<\/p>\n<p>There is the faintest suspicion of a plot. Collect five skeletons, bump into a cauldron, and Bono gets a bar of soap. Proceeding to a nearby stairway results in a large seamonster getting the soap, and Bono getting about 15 seconds to secrete himself somewhere safe before the glonks wake up and, en masse, migrate across the castle.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_739\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-739\" style=\"width: 289px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher.png\" alt=\"Bone Cruncher\" class=\"size-full wp-image-739\" width=\"289\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-739\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bone Cruncher<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This may (or may not) open up another passageway through which Bono can find another five skeletons, another cauldron, and another monster engaged in its personal toilet.<br \/>\nThe correct sequence of moves bas to he worked out for each new screen. These start off fairly simple, but soon turn into some real brainnumbing &#8220;If I release the glook then it will float up and block the monster that&#8217;s guarding the key&#8221; stuff.<\/p>\n<p>There then follow some situations which appear impossible, and as the only way lo escape when (rapped by glooks is to restart the game (there\u2019s no time limit, and no way to bump off Bono to start from another position with a new life) these can be severe tests of patience.<br \/>\nThe square areas of earth that vanish when Bono walks through them are irresistibly reminiscent of Boulderdash. So is the trick of pushing glooks around to reveal exits.<\/p>\n<p>The glook volcanoes that spew forth an infinite number of monsters are straight out of Gauntlet, as is Fozzy, a toad\/bear creature that Bono can release. Foz just blunders around, and occasionaly blocks a rampaging glook. The graphics wouldn\u2019t stretch a Commodore 64. And crime of crimes, the screen flickers occasionally.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_740\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-740\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher_02.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher_02-300x191.png\" alt=\"Bone Cruncher 02\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-740\" width=\"300\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher_02-300x191.png 300w, https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/1988\/06\/Bone_cruncher_02.png 351w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-740\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bone Cruncher 02<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Sound consists of some short guitar\/synth\/drum samples concocted into a repetitive tune, as sponsored by the manufacturers of volume controls.<br \/>\nThe game commits two crimes for which the programmer should be shot. When you die a screen displays a message which reads &#8220;one life\u2019s gone&#8221; and the program does not display the sea monster on a machine which has more than 512k.<\/p>\n<p>The first problem can be fixed with a disc sector editor, and it is annoying enough for me to want to do it The second problem can be fixed by altering the bootstrap. If I wanted to spend my time fixing Superiour\u2019s bugs I\u2019d apply for the job.<br \/>\nWhat can I say?
