GB is an arcade flight simulator which combines the flavour of a flight simulator with the joystick-bashing action of a true arcade game.<br \/>\nThe plane is easy to control leaving you to test dexterity rather than intimate knowledge of racing aircraft.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_785\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-785\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_little_title.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_little_title.png\" alt=\"Gee Bee Air Rally little title\" class=\"size-full wp-image-785\" width=\"640\" height=\"156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_little_title.png 640w, https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_little_title-300x73.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-785\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gee Bee Air Rally little title<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The game\u2019s storyline is set in the 1930s, and sees you playing Johnny &#8220;Little John&#8221; Daring, America\u2019s greatest pilot. In this persona you must race a plane (the Gee Bee in the game&#8217;s title) around a pylon-marked 100 miles course.<br \/>\nThe single-winged propeller driven monster has been designed for one thing only, to fly as quicky as possible around a course. It has very short wings, a huge engine, and a massive amount of petrol. To make matters worse, you sit right on top of the engine.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_786\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-786\" style=\"width: 320px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally.gif\" alt=\"Gee Bee Air Rally\" class=\"size-full wp-image-786\" width=\"320\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-786\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gee Bee Air Rally<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The plane is capable of covering the 100 miles course at an average of more than 250 miles per hour, but only if you are a top quality pilot.<br \/>\nFly around the course as quickly as possible, avoiding all the other competitors, and leaving pylons to the left and right, rather like skiing.<br \/>\nAfter you complete a series of these courses you are presented with a couple of time trials. The most common is balloon-popping, flying at a perilously low height popping balloons with your wing tip.<\/p>\n<p>The balloons are laid out in a trail, but they are mixed with signposts which will damage your aircraft should you hit one. If you fail to pop enough balloons in the alloted time, your game is over.<br \/>\nIt during any part of the game you fail to complete a section, or crash into one of the many other planes, you parachute to land. This is displayed by a huge parachuting aviator with appropriate sounds.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_787\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-787\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_01.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_01.png\" alt=\"Gee Bee Air Rally 01\" class=\"size-full wp-image-787\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_01.png 640w, https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_01-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-787\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gee Bee Air Rally 01<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The final screen shows you either in a pile of manure, or facing an attractive pair of legs in a barn.<br \/>\nThe player\u2019s view is that from above and behind the plane you control, but although the machine is nicely drawn, it is still a little inaccurate, particularly when you are supposedly flying at 250 mph.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_788\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-788\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_02.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_02.png\" alt=\"Gee Bee Air Rally 02\" class=\"size-full wp-image-788\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_02.png 640w, https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_02-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-788\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gee Bee Air Rally 02<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The biggest problem wilh GB, however, lies not the graphics or sound, but the gameplay, or rather lack of it. Although there are levels of play, the game is quite simply too easy. And not only is it too easy, it is, after only a matter of minutes rather dull.<br \/>\nIn many respects this is little more than Pole Position in mid-air, and Pole Position is a three year old game.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_789\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-789\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_03.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_03.png\" alt=\"Gee Bee Air Rally 03\" class=\"size-full wp-image-789\" width=\"640\" height=\"408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_03.png 640w, https:\/\/amigaland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Gee_Bee_Air_Rally_03-300x191.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-789\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gee Bee Air Rally 03<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>GB falls down because it is a conversion. On the 64, the programmer could probably only get so much into the computer&#8217;s memory.
